Our business model is rooted

in biodiversity and culture.

Costa Rica, located in

Central America, covers just

31,700 square miles

(51,000 km²).

 

 

Despite its small size, we have

quite a record.

Our wildlife is more diverse proportionally

than in any other country

in the world.

It is home to 5% of the world's bird species, 1.5% of its reptiles and

1.5% of its amphibians.

We have over 180 protected areas covering 28% of the country's

total area, divided into

3 biological reserves, 158 wildlife refuges, and 22 national parks.

 

 

Costa Rica generates almost 100% of

its electricity from renewable sources.

While it relies mainly on hydroelectric power, accounting for over 70%

of its electricity generation, it also uses geothermal energy,

which harnesses heat from

volcanoes, as well as wind,

solar and biomass power.
